"Fractions and Percent: A Hands-on Exploration (Grades 4-8)" 11/18/2008 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM
Lab School Workshop
Location: The Lab School of Washington
This workshop will focus on the connection between fractions, decimals, and percents. Participants will explore a variety of traditional and non-traditional manipulatives allowing children to see and feel the connection between fractions and decimals. They will also take part in a variety of hands-on activities connecting fractions to percents. In addition, the participants will explore ways to use statistics from ski resorts and sports teams to help students apply their knowledge of percentages to real life problems.
